Here are
a few Tips in finding yourself a few sponsors for the racing season...
I don't know how joe average can
do a sport like this. I have some names on the car and this helps a lot. If you want some sponsors here are a few tips.
(1) "Think"
who will benefit with their name on the car, have a look in the paper at who's advertising, as they have paid around
£100 for 2 column inches square, thats about "FOUR SQUARE INCH'S" for 2 nights ... "YOU" can give them
a 2 foot square for a year for the same price, and remember if there is any coverage in your local paper cut it out and show
them off! (2) Be realistic, Ford, Dunlop and Mc Donalds won't be interested in a small
outfit so aim a little lower, target local companies. (3) Be prerared to be given
stuff..... oil, brake pads, petrol, help with storage, there are things other than money. (4)
DON'T sell the idea as sponsopship ( dont even use that word)
sell the Idea of "advertizing" their Company on your car. (5) If you can't show them the car then
take along some pictures or a booklet with all the info in, days, dates crowds ect ........ and finaly be prepared for a lot
of people saying "NO" Don't get the hump it's a numbers game, when one says no you are nearer to that "YES" Hope
this helps a few of YOU and other racers too!
